If you’re looking for a smart home robot with AI, video surveillance and real-time interaction, the EBO Max FamilyBot is one of the most advanced options

currently available on the market.

In this FAQ guide, we answer the most common questions about its AI capabilities,

home surveillance system, video features and storage options – so you can quickly see if it meets your needs.

1. What are the key features of EBO Max FamilyBot?

(1)  Multimodal AI Assistant

Powered by an advanced embodied AI system, EBO Max can see, listen, understand, and act. It combines visual perception, context-aware decisions, and adaptive memory to complete complex tasks, learn your habits over time, and build a more personalized connection—including facial recognition.

(2)  4K Vision & Two-Way Video Calls

Experience crystal-clear 4K video and real-time two-way communication, so you can see and talk to your loved ones as if you were right there.

(3)  Smart Patrol & Marked-Point Navigation

Set scheduled patrols or direct EBO Max to specific locations you’ve marked, making home monitoring smarter and more efficient.

(4)  Fall Detection Alerts

EBO Max can detect falls and instantly send alerts.

2. How Is EBO Max Different from EBO Air 2 Plus?

EBO Max delivers major upgrades in AI intelligence, 4K image quality, navigation performance, and fun features.

(1)  AI Assistant

EBO Max features multimodal AI, which means it can process and combine different types of input—such as vision, audio, and context. This allows it to recognize faces, understand voice commands, make context-aware decisions, and learn your habits over time for a more personalized experience.

EBO Air 2 Plus uses reactive AI, which responds only to your current inputs and does not have memory. And it doesn’t support voice wake-up.

(2)  Camera Quality

EBO Max upgrades your view to stunning 4K clarity, capturing every detail with precision. It also introduces creative recording modes like time-lapse, skeleton tracking, and locked-on mode. In comparison, EBO Air 2 Plus features 3K resolution.

(3)  V-SLAM Navigation

Powered by advanced V-SLAM navigation, it delivers more precise movement and positioning, ensuring more reliable patrols and all-around home protection.

3. How Does the AI Work? Does It Learn Over Time?

EBO Max uses LLM-based AI agent with multimodal interaction capabilities. It can reason, plan, and execute complex, multi-step tasks to achieve specific goals, rather than just generating text like chatbots. And its long-term memory continues to grow over time.

4. If I want EBO Max to build its memory of you more quickly, how often should I interact with it each day, and is there any limit on how long each session should be?

There’s no fixed time requirement. It’s not about how long each interaction lasts. What matters more is sharing key information with EBO Max—such as your preferences and expectations, and setting up features like face and voice recognition in the app. The more you interact with it and provide meaningful input, the better it understands you and the more personalized your experience becomes over time.

5. Voice Control: How Does Wake-Up Work?

Yes! Simply say “EBO EBO” within 3–5 meters. It will recognize your voice, turn toward you, and respond. Walls may affect the wake-up performance.

6. How many people can EBO Max recognize?

EBO Max can recognize up to 10 different faces. To maintain high accuracy, it currently supports just one registered voiceprint. When multiple people are in the frame, it determines who’s speaking based on the voiceprint or by understanding the conversation context.

7. What languages are supported by the AI assistant?

It supports English, Chinese, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Polish.

8. How does the pet tracking and snapshot capture feature work?

The robot needs to stay on its charging dock and requires at least 10% battery to operate. When its camera detects a pet, it automatically leaves the dock to start tracking and recording.

There’s no fixed interval between tracking sessions—whenever the conditions are met, it will activate again. This means it may return to the dock and quickly head out again if another pet is detected.

If multiple pets appear at once, the robot will automatically follow the one closest to the camera.

9. Does it support continuous patrol?

Yes, it is supported. There are currently three modes:

1. Path Patrol: After setting a patrol route, the robot will patrol along the defined path.

2. Whole-home Patrol: The robot randomly patrols the entire home for a set number of rounds. In each round, it will check all the saved locations once.

3. Fixed-point Patrol: After setting routes and locations, the robot will go to specified points to patrol. If the battery runs out during a scheduled time period, it will automatically return to charge and then resume patrolling the same location.

By default, once patrol starts, it will continuously record video. It can be controlled via the “Event Detection & Recording” switch, which can be turned off manually. Recorded videos also support online playback.

10. Is there AI noise reduction during voice calls or video calls?

Yes, EBO Max is equipped with AI noise reduction. You can set it up by tapping the gear icon in the top right corner of the app home page, then going to “More Settings” and the “Audio & Video Settings” page, where you can choose between standard noise reduction and AI noise reduction.

11. What features are included in the Cloud+ subscription?

(1) Unlimited storage: All automatically recorded videos triggered by settings can be uploaded to cloud storage.

(2) 24/7 monitoring: Scheduled security recording available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

(3) Data encryption: Supports SSL-encrypted data transmission and controls read/write permissions for each individual file.

12. How is its obstacle crossing ability? Can it work on carpet?

It can cross obstacles up to 12 mm in height and climb slopes of up to 15°. Compared with EBO Air 2 Plus, EBO Max performs better on short-pile carpets. However, on long-pile carpets—especially when fibers cover the wheels—it may get stuck.

13. What types of recording modes are available? Does it support online playback? Which recordings can be uploaded to the cloud?

All automatic recording modes support online playback. After subscribing to the Cloud+ service, recordings will be uploaded to the cloud. Manual recording also supports online playback, but it is stored only in the robot’s built-in local memory and is not uploaded to the cloud.

●  Manual recording: not saved to the cloud; supports online playback

●  Scheduled recording: supports cloud storage and online playback

●  Pet tracking recording: supports cloud storage and online playback

●  Event recording: supports cloud storage and online playback

14. What is the available storage capacity?

Built-in Storage: 64GB (approximately 47GB available)

Expandable Storage: Supports MicroSD cards up to 256GB

If a user inserts a MicroSD card larger than 256GB, the system may still recognize it, but it could lead to performance issues such as lagging or unexpected restarts. Therefore, we recommend using a MicroSD card with a maximum capacity of 256GB.
